Every day, in counties across Pennsylvania, an alarming amount of animals are sent to shelters due to cruelty and neglect. Animal cruelty is defined as someone intentionally injures or harms an animal or when a person deprives an animal of food, water, or necessary medical care. The SPCA of Luzerne County recognizes animal neglect to be a critical issue in our local area and is dedicated to preventing this as much as possible by providing shelter for unwanted and often abused animals, as well as implementing programs that educate the public on pet ownership.
